FAQ

What is the difference between a Hydropool Self-Cleaning hot tub and Hydropool Serenity hot tub?

Our Hydropool Serenity range still includes our build quality and marketing leading insulation with the Hydropool 10 year comprehensive manufacturers guarantee, great for recreational use.

Our Self Cleaning models are more ergonomically designed. Working with medical experts we have designed a product to enhance the overall hot tub experience. Our self cleaning hot tubs work like commercial based filtration. The bather is not exposed to the same body of water as the filters. The top side skimmer filter and built-in floor vacuum removes debris. The whole body of water is filtered every 15 minutes. This dramatically decreases your chemical input (compared with a regular hot tub) and reduces the requirement for general maintenance, so you are able to spend more time enjoying your hot tub and less in maintaining it.

1) Our Gold models have less jets overall but enable fewer people to maximise the power with topside diverters,  more suited to people who will use fewer of the hot tub seats majority of the time but still have the capacity for more people for the rare occasions they occur

2) Our Platinum range with more power and jets will be more focussed for customers with aches and pains or those who plan for the hot tub be at greater capacity majority of the time.

3) Titanium (Self Cleaning model 970 only) to make up for the additional space in our largest model we have increased our platinum specification with an extra pump and additional jets

No quibble guarantee – 10 years on structure (cabinet and frame), 5 years on shell, 3 years on components.

Make sure you get a hot tub with a full guarantee. Warranties imply there is small print involved, which can mean the warranty could be void if using different chemicals or the customer must pay X amount for any repairs, kind of like an excess on car insurance.

Hydropool is the only manufacturer in the world with a built in floor vacuum system – If a hot tub doesn’t have a track of inlets on the floor or a triangular floor plate it is NOT a self cleaning system

As a general rule a hot tub with 1 pump (gold range) needs 20 amp supply. A hot tub with 2 pumps (Platinum range) needs 40  amp supply. A hot tub with 3 pumps (Titanium) likely needs a 40 amp supply. The customer should consult a qualified electrician.

Power supply is required to an external isolation switch, then a cable to the hot tub. This cable needs to reach the furthest corner of the hot tub, plus an extra 4 metres. The customer is responsible for hiring a qualified electrician to install the power supply from the to house to the hot tub.

There isn’t a one size fits all answer to this question, different makes and models will cost different amounts. However, due to the fact that modern systems use the most up-to-date technology, they don’t cost as much as you may think. There are also various ways you can keep the running costs down too. On average, the most efficient hot tubs will cost about £5 a week whereas other designs can cost up to (in excess of) £30. This is something that a hot tub supplier will be able to specify for you depending on the tub you’re interested in. For example, if you purchase a self-cleaning hot tub, this is going to cost a lot less to run, compared to a normal hot tub, as it is more efficiently designed.

Every hot tub will require some regular maintenance to keep the water healthy and safe for all users. But, maintaining a hot tub really isn’t as daunting as it might seem and it actually becomes second nature after a while. Just make sure that you ask for all of the required maintenance information from your hot tub supplier when purchasing. They will also be able to advise of any specifics in relation to your make and model so, you are fully prepared in this regard. There can be a vast difference in the maintenance required, with most manufacturer’s products you will have to do regular maintenance. This is not the case with a Hydropool Self Cleaning Hot Tub with its self cleaning and self dosing technology which ensure there is only a minimum maintenance required.

The short answer is yes, you can use your hot tub as frequently as you’d like. Of course, there are particular times in your life when you will need to be conscious of using your hot tub, for example, if you’re pregnant or if you have heart problems, but a doctor will be able to advise further in these situations. All in all, there are actually many health benefits to using your hot tub daily, so it is worth finding time in your schedule to take a dip for 15 minutes or so, at least.

Again, this is another answer that will differ depending on the make and model of hot tub you purchase. Usually, a hot tub will have a set number of seats or a suggested number of users. This can vary quite dramatically depending on the size of your hot tub too, so it is worth asking this when you’re looking at models. Overfilling a hot tub can be incredibly uncomfortable and not enjoyable for the users, you will also find that you lose a lot of water over the top of the tub and then need to refill it so, just be sensible with how many people hop in at once.

37 degrees Celsius / 100 degrees Fahrenheit – Normal body temperature. Hydropool hot tubs can be set anywhere between 15 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees celsius. Any hot tub that can be set over 40 degrees is not CE approved.

If your hot tub will be placed outside:

i) Don’t place in a low area that may get flooded during a heavy storm.

ii) Don’t put it in or around any sand. If sand gets into the hot tub it can cause serious damage.

iii) Make sure that the surface is firm and level, preferably on a flat, concrete slab.

iv) If you are planning to have a hot tub installed on a patio or deck, have a structural engineer inspect the deck to ensure it can support the weight of the hot tub filled with water and people. An average four person hot tub weighs between 2.5 – 5 tons when full.

While hot tubs and swim spas are generally reliable, the most common problem that can occur is a leak. Although leaks are rare, they can happen due to the intricate manufacturing process involved in producing hot tubs. If your spa does develop a leak, it’s typically something you’ll notice within the first few months of use.

Hydropool offers comprehensive warranties to give you peace of mind. These warranties cover plumbing and parts for 3 years and the acrylic shell for an impressive 10 years. Is the filter pump running?

Has your filter pump overheated due to hot weather?

Cloudy water can be caused by many different issues. First you must correct all chemistry readings (Chlorine, PH, Alkalinity) and allow time for the water to turn over 100% at least twice. If this does not make a significant improvement then you may need to use additional chemicals such as Oxy Shock or EZ Clear to assist with returning the clarity. Always ensure your filter is clean before using these products.

The temperature of your spa must first be tested with an external thermometer to ensure the displayed information is correct. Simply lowering the set temperature of the spa will not reduce your temperature you must leave the lid of your spa off until the desired temperature has been met, then replace the lid. Alternatively you can drain a small portion of the spa water and top up with fresh cold water.

Bull BBQ questions

There is ice build up on my double drawer refrigerator, or the drawer isn’t shutting all the way.

The double drawer refrigerator is not frost free, you will need to turn it off and let any build up defrost, usually a few times a year. The drawer not shutting all the way is due to the ice buildup on the back of the unit.

Turn the griddle on and let it burn off the oils from manufacturing, for a good 20 minutes. Use a good quality high temp cooking oil to season the griddle before cooking. After cooking you can use warm water to spray on the griddle and scrape any food off. Re season with oil and it will be ready to use for next time. We recommend using a long glove to keep your hand/arm safe from heat while cleaning.

Bull grills have high BTU’s, and it takes some time to learn how to cook on one. We suggest always letting the grill get hot, then turning it down to low to cook.
